About this Beach

Spiaggia del Lazzaretto is a charming beach just a few minutes from the historic center of Alghero on Sardinia's northwestern coast. Named after the old quarantine building (lazzaretto) that once stood nearby, the beach consists of several small sandy coves divided by flat rocky outcrops. The water is crystal clear with a beautiful blue-green hue, and the rocky areas create natural pools ideal for children and snorkelers. The sheltered orientation provides calm conditions on most days, while the proximity to Alghero makes it an easy beach to visit without a car. The beach offers a good balance of services and natural beauty. Views across the water to the headland of Capo Caccia add drama to the setting. Nearby, the city walls of Alghero provide historical interest and excellent dining options after a beach day.

Lazzaretto made for a lovely afternoon. The beach isn’t as big as others on the West of Sardegna but it’s crystal clear as most beaches. Walking the whole way to the right, one will find quieter spots as the entry is full of sunbeds.

The beach is small but what is amazing is definitely the view. You have plenty of ways to explore the beach and the surroundings and the water is clear and blue. I really enjoyed this place.

Fantastic beach! The beach is situated in a nice protected cove from the elements. The day we went, there was a strong wind from the north, but there was hardly any wind at this beach. The beach was shallow waters and is great for kids. I’ve been to 4 beaches in the Alghero area and this one is one of the best. There’s also a few restaurants where you can probably get a nice drink and bite to eat.
